I conduct psychotherapy with children, adolescents and their parents. My primary treatment approach is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). It is based on the principle that our thoughts, feelings and behaviors are closely connected. It can help with a wide range of issues including anxiety and depression. It focuses on current concerns and finding solutions.
I also integrate animal-assisted interventions with Jethro, my canine partner. Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is a goal-directed intervention in which an animal meeting specific
criteria is an integral part of the treatment process. Research has found that petting a dog can help lower stress/cortisol levels, and social interaction with a dog can increase feel-good hormones like oxytocin. It can also help with reducing anxiety and depression. AAT can be utilized with various psychological, emotional, developmental, cognitive, motivational, or physical concerns.
